One of the principal aims in setting up Saraswati was to promote literacy and reading. To that end we are currently setting up a major CSR project that will hopefully come to fruition in the second half of 2017.
The project will take the form of the first two books in an ongoing series of children's books, and our current target is to produce 10,000 books to be given away free to school children across Cambodia. The books will not only encourage reading and literacy but will also carry environmental messages and be in both English and Khmer to help with language skills too.
Saraswati Publishing All of the team involved–writers, designer, illustrator–will not be taking any payment for their services in order to keep the costs down to printing and distribution. We hope to have several sponsors on board as the more funds that are raised, the more books we can produce.
We recognise that we cannot get books to every child, so will also be launching a website and phone apps to allow children to access both the stories and a number of fun and educational games.
If you represent a company or business and are interested in being involved, please do not hesitate to contact us.
In addition to this, all profits from our Mekong Shadows anthology are going to the marvelous Khmer Sight NGO. You can read more about their work here:
